The reason people fall in love with Kirkhill is the view over the valley under the ancient Scots Pine (reportedly planted at the time of the original construction by the Dundas’ of Arniston).

A true country retreat within easy reach of Edinburgh, the Kirkhill Estate has over 3000 established trees. With the North Esk River running around half of the house’s boundary, you’re almost guaranteed to see your fair share of local wildlife from deer to bats, trout, rabbits, water voles, wood peckers and numerous song birds. Whether you want to take a 10 minute stroll down to the river or lengthier walks to the edge of the estate and over into Gore Glen Woodland Park, there is so much beauty to behold.

The only building you can see from Kirkhill mansion and its estate is the former gardener’s lodgings. It’s a place where you can truly get away from it all. Our next nearest neighbour is a 10 minute walk away at the end of the drive.

The ideal location for a summer soiree, we have a marquee in our garden to make the most of the stunning countryside views. Overlooking the Pentland Hills, the marquee can accommodate up to 300 people for a drinks reception and up to 120 people for a sit-down meal.

We even have an outdoor hot tub where you can relax and soak in the views.

It is the perfect setting for a country event within easy reach of the city.
